Infinity Bi-Spectrum protects Seoul Airport

Infinity Bi-Spectrum protects Seoul Airport

1st July 2023

Seoul Incheon International is the main airport serving Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. It is the fifth (5th) busiest airport in the world with a footfall of over 60,000,000 (60 million!) passengers annually, marking it a flagship for the South Korean government to display its capabilities and prowess.

The upgrade of criticial surveillance cameras at Seoul Incheon International Airport has completed; with more than 2,000 Infinity cameras now installed to protect passengers and aircraft within Terminals, on Runways, Aircraft Gates and the perimeter of the airport itself. Infinity Bi-Spectrium cameras - a camera that features both optical and thermal lenses - was selected for the entirety of these works.

Infinity optical imagery allows for up to 8MP 4K resolution images in real-time to see all over the airport as well as boasting zoom capabilities of more than 500x magnification; so a potential threat can be viewed extremely close-up or thousands of metres away. In addition, a multitude of video analytics can be performed on the visual image to ensure the highest forms of visual protection. But given these cameras are "Bi-Spectrum" they also operate, in parallel, based on heat (Thermal) basis as well.

A key component of a Bi-Spectrum camera is that it has a secondary portion with its own dedicated lens and processing capability based purely on heat meaning in the same view, the client gets both a visual overview and a thermal one. This means a potential threat or perimeter breach can be detected 5, 10 or 20km away - much, much sooner than if video alone was used. A full suite of analytics can be performed on the thermal image, just like the visual one, so something like a bomb or terrorist threat can be detected much, much, much sooner.

Thanks to Infinity, the airport is now one of the most securely protected properties in the world!
