Infinity Thermal secures Port of Cape Town

3rd November 2023

The Port of Cape Town is one of the largest and busiest ports in the whole continent of Africa. It is strategically placed at the bottom tip of south Africa so that most vessels circuling underneath Africa will need to dock, for example it handles the largest amount of fresh food transit of all ports in the world.

The port oeprates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and thus, to improve operational effiency they decided to upgrade their CCTV and expand it to cover the entirety of the port's footprint. They also wanted Video Analytics and Thermal Imagery to ensure items were being processed correctly, on time, that there was nothing untoward going on and to use the system as digital timestamp to monitor workers and ensure shifts were being worked fully.

Over 500 Infinity Thermal cameras are positioned to ensure all containers and produce are of correct heat signatures and also that no human operator is exhibiting signs of being ill (and thus contaminating contents of containers). In addition, more than 1,000 Infinity PTZ cameras are deployed with long range zoom to allow monitoring on a micro and macro basis, of all containers and vessels. Separately, more than 2,000 fixed Infinity cameras are positioned in open areas, offices, bays and perimeters to ensure workforce are working the hours they should and that only authorised personnel are in certain areas. All cameras are running Video Analytics to ensure any threats are caught immediately and that all areas remain secure.
