Belgian Railway Case Study
Belgian Railway Network
Intelligent Video Surveillance
This was an intelligent video surveillance system deployed on a national scale! Its purpose was to provide surveillance and intelligent detection across the entire railway network of Belgium. Operators on the network monitor every station and key track sections in real time, so as to discover, deter and combat illegal and criminal acts in time. Surveillance is also used for prosectution and provided as video evidence for investigating and solving cases.
The project deployed thousands of external Infinity PTZ Infrared (IR) cameras. The low light capability and 30x zoom was important as cameras would be deployed in both and day situations and with a lot of nighttime monitoring of open areas such as borders and station squares where lighting may be non-existent. Infinity cameras ensure all-weather monitoring requirements and meet the need to adjust the video direction and camera multiple focal length for fine monitoring.
Within the stations themselves such as on concourses or ticket offices or station entrances; Infinity high-definition 8MP static cameras were deployed for high resolutions and the ability to digitally zoom without losing quality.
Whether PTZ or static, Infinity cameras have video analytics which allow for intelligent detections to be setup on a position-by-position basis across the entire national network. Infinity offers flexibility, high quality bandwidth control, the latest ONVIF compliance and are built to last.
