Laser House Case Study
Laser House
High Definition People Management -
modern security for a modern world
Laser House is a multi-storey office block situated near Islington in North London. It has occupied its current site for many years and was granted permission to undergo a large modern rennovation to faciliate new office space, a below-street-level basement and a new 'art box' area. Once complete, the building will house many tennants who will each occupy various amounts of space on given floor(s).
What can make environments such as this challenging is managing the different types of people who will make use of the building everyday. Tennants may occupy a given a floor in which case they will need some form of access control token to grant them access to that given floor plus general amenities, sounds simple enough....however what if a tennant occupied several floors....or only one part of a given floor? This is where having a system that can compartmentalise people and their tokens based on several fields becomes crucial. Further, Secure-By-Design (SBD) standards also mandate having controlled access for communal elements such as lifts; therefore a granular access control system that can be open and flexible at the same time is required....cue Infinity!
Having a system such as this that can offer granular control to comply with SBD but can also be open and flexible enough to facilitate on-the-fly changes and centralised management by Building Management staff is critical. When you consider that granular access control for passenger lifts is required as is integrated full HD video & audio intercom, Infinity was a clear winner. The building also needed High Definition (HD) surveillance throughout; with all systems interconnected and accessed via a web browser across Microsoft Windows, Linux and Apple Mac platforms....only Infinity was able to provide this!
Providing state-of-the-art HD surveillance from a system that can be on-site based as well as fully cloud compliant, with HD intercoms that can also be on-site or cloud based and a web based access control system that can be deployed on-site or in the cloud is impossible for most vendors, but not Infinity! And this is why Infinity was chosen as the building owner, Quartz, have such a wide range of properties in their portfolio that by standardising on Infinity they can amalgamate their systems in all new projects into a single entity that can be remotely managed and/or accessed on site for ease and resilience.
