Lisbon Paper Mill Case Study

Lisbon Paper Mill

Lisbon Paper Mill - Portugal

Thermal Detection for complete surveillance

Paper mills have many flammable materials, such as timber and paper. Monitoring of temperature changes with timely alarms can effectively reduce the factory losses and help to prevent fires and loss of life. The main monitoring areas of the mill are divided into preparation areas, paper workshops, recycling workshops, warehouses, raw materials and finished products stacking areas.

The client has some specific requests including: early fire hazard discovery and management via an intelligent monitoring front end and contact-free monitoring of temperature fluctuations via alarms from thermal imaging solutions.

Infinity deployed Bi-Spectrum cameras which combine thermal imaging (heat) and optics (visual detection) so that the client was able to monitor and survey in High Definition but could also view their site via themography which shows temperatures.

The Infinity solution was configured with thermal thresholds in certain areas so if an area temperature rose above a threshold an alarm could be triggered and system operators would be notified.

Via integrations, when a thermal alarm was activated other systems could also be alerted thus evacuation sirens and other systems could be triggered into automatic functionality.

The intelligence of the Infinity solution meant systems were automated and the client was able to have a contact-free surveillance and monitoring of their premises, equipment and protection of their workforce.

The savings that Infinity have been able to provide are almost beyond calculation. Apartm from the financial rewards for the premises, the machinery and equipment; the protection for life for such situations is above monetary valuations and ensures the client is free to go about their business worry-free.
